Available exclusively through Splice INSTRUMENT, the release meticulously samples the vintage electric piano Legend plays, writes and records with at his home studio.
The new instrument follows the launch of Legend's first collaboration with Splice, which gave musicians the opportunity to play the piano behind his breakthrough hit "Ordinary People." That instrument has since been played by tens of thousands of pianists around the world on Splice. Now, Legend and Splice are expanding the partnership, capturing a warmer, soulful electric sound that has been central to Legend's musical life for decades.

Legend's relationship with the electric piano dates back to the earliest days of his career, when he would haul a more than 100-pound instrument in the back of his car on the way to gigs. "It was heavy, man," Legend recalls.
Fortunately, musicians won't need to lug around a heavy piano.
Recorded from Legend's own vintage electric piano at his Los Angeles home studio and sampled in detail, John Legend: Electric Piano allows musicians to bring the instrument directly into their own creative process. Users can open Splice INSTRUMENT, load the preset and immediately begin playing, writing and experimenting with a sound previously available only inside Legend's studio.
