Strategic Planning Online, SPOL, like most companies, has navigated the challenges of COVID-19 this year by shifting all but three of its employees to work from home status. Throughout the year, SPOL team members have endured having many friends and family suffer, and in some cases pass on, from the virus. Despite knowing the dangers of and safeguards against COVID, one SPOL team member contracted the virus in August. SPOL's Chief Operating Officer, Ed Clougherty, delivered a large sub sandwich to Josh, SPOL's Digital Media Manager, while he was isolating from his family at home and going through the illness. A smiling Josh watched from a second story window as his COO placed the food on his front porch. Thankfully, Josh recovered, and his family remained safe and well.
A month or so after recovery, Josh and Clougherty were talking about how Josh caught the virus, and how easy it was to let one's guard down against this unrelenting threat. Struck by the passion and firm beliefs in COVID safeguards that Josh communicated, Clougherty brought the conversation up at SPOL's weekly VP meeting. Listening to the conversation, SPOL's founder and CEO, Andrew Davies, directed his staff to consider creating a public service announcement (PSA) reminding all of the continued importance of observing COVID safety protocols.
"We're all so close to receiving our COVID vaccine, and we felt that people needed a gentle reminder to keep on observing COVID safety protocols for just a little longer," said Chief Revenue Officer Margarita Santiler. She suggested the some of the children of SPOL team members participate in the PSA video, and a script quickly followed.
