Sqrrl Comes Out on Top at the AFCEA Technology Zoo Competition
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 14, 2015 -- Sqrrl, the Big Data Analytics company that develops software to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and links in data, won the Technology Zoo competition at the AFCEA Cybersecurity Technology Summit, held on April 2, 2015. Sqrrl was selected unanimously as having the best 3-minute pitch and was pitted against nine other cybersecurity startups in a “Shark Tank” style competition. The three judges included Douglas Maughan, Director of Cybersecurity Division at the Department of Homeland Security, William P. Crowell, a Partner at Alsop Louie, and Dave Wennergen, former CIO of the US Navy.
The pitch highlighted Sqrrl’s unique linked data analysis approach, which fuses cybersecurity disparate datasets into linked data models. The Sqrrl platform combines these linked data models with advanced network visualization and machine learning techniques to provide analysts with a single pane of glass for incident detection and response. Sqrrl powers various types of cyber investigations, including hunting trips designed to proactively uncover threats that may be hidden in a network or system.
Sqrrl's Co-founder and VP for Business Development Ely Kahn stated, "A number of companies with impressive technologies competed in the AFCEA Technology Zoo. It is an honor to receive this vote of confidence from the judges."
The conference itself attracted over 850 cyber professionals and featured a number of notable speakers including Admiral Michael Rogers, Commander of US Cyber Command. Topics discussed across speakers and panels varied from the potential effects of cyber crime on government to cybersecurity procurement priorities in the Federal Government.
Robert Pate, Principal Cyber Security Strategist at Leidos and the organizer the Shark Tank competition remarked, "The Technology Zoo competition was a new event at the AFCEA Cybersecurity Technology Summit this year, and the reception was fantastic. Sqrrl’s pitch was clear, concise, and impactful, which helped them rise to the top of the pack."
