Squinkies Toys Are Back with Brand New Squinkies 'Do Drops
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) June 10, 2016 -- Leading the pack of cute, mini collectible toys were Squinkies: tiny, squishy figures with huge appeal to kids. Upon their initial release in 2010, Squinkies became one of the hottest-selling toys of the holiday season. The line started with 96 figures, including ponies, monkeys, and puppies. The brilliance of Squinkies was that with the purchase of just one multi-pack, kids became instant collectors, while the toys’ bargain prices won favor from parents. With special collaborations like Hello Kitty and Disney limited edition figures, there were Squinkies for everyone. Though Squinkies took a break from the market, they are still highly sought-after, with rare Squinkies commanding collector’s prices on sites like eBay. In exciting news for Squinkies fans, Blip Toys is releasing a new line of characters, special accessories, and playsets. The new line will include ultra-rare, limited edition Squinkies to delight collectors anticipating this long-awaited return.
The new launch will introduce Squinkies ‘Do Drops: mix-and-match dress-up Squinkies. With over 150 Squinkies and 50 ‘Do’s to collect, collectors can add hats, wigs, crowns, and silly headpieces to their Squinkies for thousands of customized combos. Collectors will find dozens of new characters from areas throughout Squinkieville, like Olive Eight the octopus from Squinkie Sea, Billy Beardsley the goat from Squinkie Valley Acres, and Hopps Hopkins the frog from Faraway Forest. Other adorable characters include a zebra and an ostrich from Jungle Oasis; garden-themed bumble bee and caterpillar friends from Gardenia; and a narwhal and snow leopard from chilly Arctic Island.
One in six collector packs will feature an ultra-rare “mash-up” Squinkie with a fun, crazy mix of features, such as Unicow, the mysterious glittered cow with a unicorn horn. In keeping with the spirit of the original line, kids start an instant collection with packs of varying sizes. ‘Do Drops Mystery Villas include two mystery characters and a ‘Do inside a tiny collectible house. The ‘Do Drops Starter Pack includes six figures and two ‘Dos, while the ‘Do Drops Collector Pack includes 12 figures, four ‘Dos, and a Villa.
Collectors can amass a neighborhood of Squinkieville Villas, available in blind packs along with two Squinkies and a ‘Do. They can also build their own Squinkieville world with playsets, each containing a Squinkies destination, exclusive characters, and ‘Do. Playsets include the Squinkieville Clubhouse, the ultimate Squinkies hangout complete with a café and spinning lookout tower; the Airplane Playset, perfect for jetting through Squinkieville in style; and the Ice Cream Shop, where Squinkies can chill with a sweet treat. Kids can interact even further with the brand thanks to Squinkisodes, engaging webisodes following the adventures of Squinkies in Squinkieville.
Blip Toys started as a small, Minnesota-based toy company founded in 2000 by Bill Nichols. After years of success with a range of toys and novelties, Blip Toys hit one out of the park with Squinkies. These teeny toys in a vending machine-like plastic ball started selling out in retail locations everywhere within months of their initial release. Squinkies won the 2010 International Toy Fair’s Girl Toy of the Year award, and even inspired a Nintendo DS video game. Blip Toys has used this stellar brand recognition to become a significant force in the novelty toy market. Today, their brands include Disney’s Whisker Haven line, featuring Palace Pets, the animal companions of various Disney Princesses. They also carry the Yummy Nummies Mini Kitchen Magic line, adorably tiny meal making sets. Amazimals and Zoom-O are among their other product lines.
