St. Louis Spirits Gymnastics Club Honors Local School Teachers
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) May 14, 2015 -- From April 20 to 24, the St. Louis Spirits Gymnastics Club celebrated its Teacher Appreciation Week and Gratitude Month by honoring local school teachers at its gymnastics studio.
As part of the club's comprehensive character development program, Powerful Words, students invited their teachers to come and be honored at Spirits and watch them perform in class. More than 40 teachers -- including Ms. Samantha Mraz of Festus Elementary School and Ms. Jennifer Frederich of Concord Elementary School -- came to see their students.
Kris and Rod Rogers, owners, said the teachers were thrilled to be invited to this special gymnastics class and to be honored by their students. Each teacher received a certificate and a flower from his or student, as well as applause from everyone attending.
"Our school teachers are some of the most important people in our community," Kris said. "They’re educating our future leaders! We think of it as a privilege to have them visit our academy."
Rod said that parents and students were equally excited to see their teachers off school grounds.
“Teachers do so much for these children but they are sometimes taken for granted. It’s a great time to thank them for all that they do,” he explained.
Dr. Robyn J.A. Silverman, creator of the Powerful Words Character Development system used at Spirits, said she sees the importance in bringing schools and the community together in educating children.
“The community-home-school partnership is critical in providing children and families with a complete education that benefits everyone," Silverman said. “All our teachers are such an important resource to us all. As this month's Powerful Word is ‘Gratitude,’ we want every teacher to know their dedication to the students and to making learning fun for them has sparked a positive 'Attitude of Gratitude' in our students that they are bursting to share with their beloved teachers.”
Since opening the St. Louis Spirits Gymnastics Club, Kris and Rod Rogers have helped thousands of kids, teens and adults embrace a positive and healthy lifestyle. Kris said this teacher appreciation will encourage teachers to refer more of their students to Spirits in the future.
"This teacher recognition will hopefully make the area schools aware that we're here and dedicated to the children of the area," Kris said. "We are hoping teachers would recommend students to our gym for purposes of learning discipline and having an outlet for extra energy. Spirits’ strong curriculum and the Powerful Words Character Development system provide our students opportunities that will give them the ability to become unstoppable in life."
