LONDON, Sept. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Star Technical Solutions' award-winning performance optimisation and energy management system Ethos has added another accolade to its growing list of honours by receiving the Refrigeration Innovation Award at this year's RAC Cooling Industry Awards in the Components / Peripherals / Processes category.

The awards evening took place last night at the Park Lane Hilton in London. Ethos fought off stiff competition from nine other finalists in the industry, earning special praise from the panel of judges, "We chose Star as they demonstrated a good standalone product that encompassed energy saving, diagnostics with data analysed and converted into financial loss & gain on a user-friendly dash board. We felt this product had the greatest ability to drive behaviour change and targeted diagnostics with the largest saving returns to end users."
Although there are other data logging products available on the market, Ethos is unique in its ability to not only monitor the energy consumption of a plant and evaluate how it is currently operating, but also to assess how it should ideally be performing to achieve maximum efficiency under all conditions.
To bring the service online, STS first install a number of sensors and an Ethos panel to the cooling/heating system. These sensors collect and send data about the plant's performance to a central control unit, accessible remotely via an online web portal.
By analysing the gap between its current and desired performance, Ethos is then able to recommend a number of actions and measures which can help to increase efficiency, ultimately saving the customer money in the form of reduced energy bills as well as helping them to meet their environmental goals. Since its implementation for a number of national customers over the last couple of years, Ethos has advised plant owners on between 10% and 30% in energy savings.
It is these qualities which have made Ethos the gold standard for refrigeration plant energy management and performance optimisation and the system has already garnered recognition from the industry. In January, Ethos won Product of the Year at the 2018 National ACR Heat and Pump Awards.
