Starlight Community Theater Spreads the Message of Tolerance With Their Presentation of Honk Jr.

PHOENIX, Sept. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Starlight Community Theater (SCT) will continue to present Honk Jr. from September 14 through September 23. This production marks the second show of SCT's 2018-2019 season.

Adapted from Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling, Honk Jr. teaches the message of tolerance and the celebration of being different. The main character, Ugly, looks strangely different from his other siblings and animals around and Ugly takes notice quickly.

Not long after, Ugly finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting the hungriest Cat around. In this great adventure, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not so bad after all.

"Honk Jr. is a beautiful and fun musical full of great songs and a strong message," said Victoria Fricker, Director of Honk Jr., "Our young performers have put together a show that truly showcases the talent at Starlight Community Theater and we cannot wait for audiences to see that talent for themselves."

Honk originally opened at The Watermill Theatre in England in 1993. The West End production opened in 1999 and won the 2000 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Honk is frequently produced show performed by schools, as well as regional and community theatre groups in Britain, the U.S. and Canada.
