Start-Up with New Jersey Manufacturing Roots Launches Crowdfunding Campaign on Kickstarter
Newark, NJ (PRWEB) September 29, 2014 -- New Jersey start-up, Starship Enterprises, announced that it will be launching a crowdfunding campaign using the platform Kickstarter. Starship’s campaign, which is set to begin on Tuesday September 23, is targeting to raise $30,000 to commercialize their product ScreenSuspenders, a universal tablet and iPad holder.
President and CEO, Andrew Hines, first conceptualized ScreenSuspenders after watching a young man struggle with a tablet on a flight from Phoenix to Newark. Hines, being a 25 year veteran of the manufacturing sector, saw an opportunity to eliminate stiff necks and awkward handling for those wishing to use their devices on airplanes, trains, buses, and cars. After several generations of prototypes and filing for patent protection, ScreenSuspenders was unveiled at NJIT’s New Product Showcase in February 2014 as one of the lightest and streamlined tablet holders in the consumer space. ScreenSuspenders weighs only a few ounces and is easily folded for quick placement in backpacks, briefcases, and pockets. Users are even able to make their tablets true hand-held devices by using the ScreenSuspenders Velcro strap. The product also facilitates hanging anywhere such as reading recipes suspended over the counter…not on it. When speaking of ScreenSuspenders’ origins, Hines said “The product was born in New Jersey and continues to grow here as all of the product’s engineers, designers, and prototype manufacturers are from the State. Our Injection Molder and Velcro supplier are also in New Jersey. We’re fiercely committed to our MADE IN USA designation and, because of this, are comfortable extending the lifetime warranty.”
With Starship Enterprises diving into two of the most emergent technologies in today’s market, tablets and crowdfunding, the company hopes to grow investor confidence and widen their customer base. Hines also hopes to capitalize on Kickstarter’s success as the crowdfunding platform recently celebrated passing $1 billion in project pledges. “I’m an innovator at heart,” Hines said. “I’ve spent time working through the prototypes, tapping into resources here at the NJIT EDC incubator where my business is located; it’s now time to bring the product to the people and rally support around ScreenSuspenders.”
