State Grant bolster's Telamon Insurance Commitment to Employee Training
Westwood, MA (PRWEB) April 20, 2017 -- Telamon Insurance and Financial Network recognizes employee training enhances valuable skills that helps the company compete successfully in the marketplace, and be a leading provider of exceptional customer service.
That’s why the Westwood, MA-based company is particularly pleased about being awarded an $82,000 grant from the state Workforce Training Fund. Telamon is among some 100 Massachusetts companies who received grants recently as part of an overall $7.9 million state commitment to employee training and skills development.
“At a basic level, this grant helps add to the valuable and unique skills sets of our employees and gives them the opportunity for career and personal development,” said Kaleena Murray, employee engagement specialist for Telamon. “The training keeps us competitive in the marketplace and helps develop stronger skills sets so that we can continue to enhance our customer service.”
According to Murray, the grants will fund training for the next two years, for employees as well as senior management. The company is working with Ace Power of Andover to develop training sessions which will typically be half-days each month. Ace will facilitate content tailored to Telamon’s needs to reinforce skills and support employees, Murray said.
The Workforce Training Fund provides grants up to $250,000 to companies in the commonwealth to pay for employee training over a two-year period. Grants are awarded to projects that will upgrade workers’ skills, increase productivity, and enhance the competitiveness of Massachusetts businesses. Grants are matched dollar for dollar by the award recipients.
In announcing the grants, Governor Charlie Baker said, “Workforce training grants invest in the strength of our workers and Massachusetts’ labor market. We are pleased these funds can assist workers in developing the skills they need to advance their careers and help businesses foster an employment pool which better matches their growth needs.”
This project is funded by a Workforce Training Fund grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The grant program is administered by Commonwealth Corporation.
