LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Stefano Capobianco debuted his latest EP, Stefano and The Slightly Irregulars, in an energetic performance at Molly Malone's on Saturday, July 13. Capobianco performed all of the five-song release, rounding out his set with highlights from his prior work and introducing some works in progress; all delivered with his characteristic passion, personality and emphasis on a good time for all. To the delight of the audience, the uplifting and engaging performance included a dose of funk with a nod to James Brown, an unexpected and highly entertaining Lizzo sing-along and some off-the-cuff lyric ad libs to enhance the celebratory mood of the evening.
Influenced by a mix of genres but based in rock & roll, Stefano and the Slightly Irregulars is a musical cocktail with hints of earthy classic rock, dreamy R&B, and straight-up anthems. The five-song release offers Capobianco's view of personal and social topics. From "Stand", inspired by the speeches of the Parkland shooting survivors, to "No Love Lost" drawn from his 2018 experience learning through a DNA app that he had eight siblings, Capobianco's style is both vulnerable and intense.
The album was recorded and engineered by Randy Ray Mitchell at Akadak Studios in Los Angeles and mixed and mastered by veteran engineer Marc DeSisto. Recorded as a band to capture the live energy of the songs, both the recording process and the band name reflect Capobianco's goal to create music that is intentionally imperfect.
"I wanted this record to be full of life, like older, classic rock recordings," said Capobianco. "It has its mistakes and that's what makes it sound human. I wanted a live band feel so I created a band name as the title of the project."
Performing with Capobianco as the Slightly Irregulars at Molly Malone's were Joe Guese (Guitar), Kelly King (Drums), Daniel Rhine (Bass) and Joel Stites (Keys).
As the guitarist for King Leg, Capobianco spent last summer touring with Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams, and Steve Earle and the Dukes as part of the LSD tour. Formerly of Little John (EMI) and Proper Villains (Dangerous Melodies), Capobianco is a vibrant performer who blends technical proficiency with improvisation.
