Stellar Energy Delivers Solar Technology Presentation to the Agriculture Industry
Newport Beach, Calif. (PRWEB) September 05, 2013 -- Stellar Energy, a leading national provider of commercial solar systems, was invited to present a “State of Solar Address” to the Western Growers Association (WGA) Food Safety, Science and Technology Committee members on July 24 in Newport Beach, California. The committee has general oversight on food safety, environmental and technology issues for the WGA, which is one of the most powerful trade associations in the nation, focused on protecting the unique interests of the specialty crop industry throughout the Western United States.
Stellar Energy Vice President of Project Development, Ted Walsh, and Project Development Manager, Elliot Jaramillo presented to a packed conference room of owners, top-executives and policy makers of many of the most significant Agricultural firms in the US.
“The continued success of California’s agriculture market could not be more important,” says Ted Walsh. “These companies are producing most of the nation’s fresh fruits and vegetables, employing entire communities locally, sustaining our state economy, and the very nature of their business ties them to our most critical environmental issues. These are very smart business leaders employing the most advanced technologies and processes possible to stay competitive in a global market, while both utilizing and protecting their own natural resources – so it’s no surprise that the Agricultural community continues to be a strong adopter of solar.”
What these business leaders learned is that return on investment in large-commercial solar has never been stronger and the window of opportunity is wide open, but it may not always be so good. Interest rates are rising, which effects solar finance options. Solar incentives are diminishing; global commodity prices for solar components are stabilizing from the free fall they experienced over the last few years and energy costs continue to rise while rate structures and utility regulations are ever changing.
“It was an honor to be invited to present to such a respected group,” reports Elliot Jaramillo, who focuses on California’s agricultural market for Stellar Energy. “There is so much competition in solar. The solar market continues to evolve and introduce innovative technologies, finance solutions, and business models – and our job is to recognize the difference in every opportunity, understand all the options available, and develop the best solar investment possible for that unique situation.”
The team at Stellar Energy has delivered an unparalleled amount of solar within California’s agricultural sector, but the systems they deploy have changed over time. Stellar Energy has just completed a 1 Megawatt (MW) fixed-tilt ground mount system for a Fortune 500 Agricultural client for which they installed 2 MW of single-axis trackers a few years ago. Similarly, they are currently installing two systems for significant almond and citrus growers in California’s Central Valley across the street from their solar tracking systems.
“So many solar companies show up with their answer before they have asked a single question,” adds Walsh, who held leadership positions for some of the nation’s largest solar companies before joining Stellar Energy. “Most large solar companies are biased to their own brand of modules, or tracking systems, or finance programs. Stellar Energy is successful by offering the best that the industry has to offer, collaborating with our clients without trying to force them into a particular solution.”
The Western Growers Association, and its Board of Directors, continues to educate and serve its members on a wide range of issues. Among them, energy prices, water and air purity, sustainable growing practices, and land usage remain critical concerns for the Agricultural industries - and each of these can be improved through renewable energy.
