A huge thank you to the ‘Cognizant About Curing Celiac’ team for hosting this Virtual Walk. Thanks for helping us see a life Beyond Celiac! We appreciate Inger and Randal Kenworthy for their leadership with this combined live and virtual walk. Our thanks to Cognizant for also supporting this cause
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (PRWEB) July 01, 2019
On June 22, Cognizant About Curing Celiac sponsored a virtual walk to raise money for Beyond Celiac. The walk was a big success with teams participating in more than 10 states, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, California, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Colorado, North Carolina and more.
Beyond Celiac is raising more than $450,000 this year to fund research grants to scientists focused on advancing research for celiac disease, a serious genetic autoimmune disorder. The Cognizant team raised over $4,000 to contribute to the effort while also raising awareness through its local presence in the communities where walks were held and through exposure on social media and the press about the need for more research in this underfunded field.

About Celiac Disease
Celiac Disease affects nearly 3 million Americans as of 2019, with 60-70% of all patients being women. All of these people are consistently at risk of developing long term health complications from celiac disease. Beyond this, it is predicted that between 50-70% of all Americans with the condition haven’t even been diagnosed. Unless consistent efforts are made to increase awareness of celiac disease and funding for research, millions of people will go undiagnosed and continue to suffer from the illness.
