San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 16, 2016 -- In a recent trial (Case No. CGC-14-541544, San Francisco Superior Court, Civil division), Steven Adair MacDonald & Partners, P.C. represented the owner of a single family home and his property manager in defending against a lawsuit brought by his former tenants. “This was a rather significant victory,” said attorney Steven Adair MacDonald, founder of Steven Adair MacDonald & Partners, P.C. “Especially considering the homeowner previously settled with the tenants.”

In August 2014, two tenants moved out of the single family home claiming they were constructively evicted and forced from their home due to the owner’s behavior. They filed a lawsuit shortly after, and the owner settled with the tenants before trial and the case later went to a jury trial against the property manager.

MacDonald firm partners Jethro Busch and Anna Liu, who substituted into the case on the morning of the trial, represented the property manager. The jury ultimately found the owner 5% liable to one tenant for the amount of the security deposit but also ruled that the tenants suffered no other damages, leaving the property manager as the “prevailing party.” After the trial, the court awarded the defendant and Steven Adair MacDonald & Partners, P.C. a substantial amount in attorney’s fees and costs.

“This amount wiped out the entire settlement the tenants achieved with the owner,” said MacDonald, who has been solving landlord-tenant and real estate disputes for more than thirty years.
