Stop Hunger Now and Syngenta Engage Houston Volunteers in Ending Hunger
Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 08, 2015 -- Stop Hunger Now and Syngenta are joining forces in the fight against hunger. GB Biosciences (a Syngenta company) employees and Houston community volunteers will package meals for the world’s hungry on September 19, 2015, at the Stop Hunger Now Houston facility from 10 am – 2 pm. Stop Hunger Now meal packaging events are a volunteer-based program that coordinates the streamlined packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables and 23 essential vitamins and minerals.
Members of the community are invited to join this volunteer event celebrating the second anniversary of The Good Growth Plan, Syngenta’s bold, measurable program that is working with farmers, governments, NGOs and others to make a deep, lasting and positive impact on the world’s food security and the planet’s long-term sustainability.

Around the world, nearly 795 million people lack adequate food. Stop Hunger Now operates meal packaging locations in 19 cities throughout the U.S. and six international locations in South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines, Italy, India and Peru. More than 600,000 volunteers from corporations, churches, schools and civic organizations have packaged Stop Hunger Now meals.
Founded in 1998, Stop Hunger Now has delivered aid and disaster relief supplies in the form of food, medical supplies, clothing, school supplies and more to thousands of disaster victims and other hungry and vulnerable people in 71 countries. Stop Hunger Now’s partnership with Syngenta began in 2014 and has resulted in 71,000 meals packaged by 625 volunteers through five events in Florida, Minnesota, California and North Carolina. The meals supported school-feeding and sustainable community projects in Cambodia, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Philippines and Swaziland. Through the Houston event, Syngenta plans to donate 60,000 meals toward the Stop Hunger Now mission and engage more than 300 employees and community volunteers.
