Storj Announces Terms of Last Test Group Before Commercial Launch
(PRWEB) June 24, 2016 -- In preparation for its public launch this summer, Storj announced today the final test group (Test Group C or “TGC”) for its distributed object storage network. TGC participants (who provide storage capacity to the network, otherwise known as “farmers”) will take part in various tests to measure network performance via built-in telemetry, allowing the company to optimize the platform prior to commercial launch this summer.
Key details about the program:
-Farmers who participate in TGC share drive space with developers and applications
-1,000,000 SJCX (roughly $100,000) will be distributed to farmers over the next several months
-Farmers will be compensated for valuable telemetry data submitted to Storj Labs Inc, which will be used to better understand the network at scale
-During periods where there is excess storage supply, farmers holding at least 1,000 SJCX may receive preference for data contracts
-Developers will be able to upload unlimited data onto the network for free during the test period

Wilkinson, noted, “Our initial tests show blazing fast upload and download speeds as a result of the distributed P2P protocols that it’s built on. We’re pleased to see such high performance on a platform that was built with privacy by design. With the help of our farmers and developers, we’ll push the network to its limit prior to commercial launch this summer.”
Storj is offering developers an object store that is:
-More secure: zero-knowledge storage
-Faster: highly performant due to P2P infrastructure
-Cheaper: 50% less expensive than traditional cloud storage providers
-More reliable: Storj will be offering 99.99999% of availability at commercial launch
The company has received significant recognition recently; this month alone, Storj spoke alongside Edward Snowden at BlueYard Capital’s Decentralized & Encrypted conference (https://goo.gl/tMvVNb), and was mentioned in the Economist’s June print edition (http://goo.gl/63xDx1).
