In his pursuit of excellence, Salazar quickly advanced through the hotel ranks working for Westin Hotels and Resorts, Omni Hotels and Resorts and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts as Vice President of Food and Beverage-ultimately advancing to Senior VP for Interstate Hotel and Resorts throughout a 30 year period. During his time with all four hotel chains, Salazar helped accrue over $975M in annual food and beverage revenue.
In parallel, he has received numerous national and international accolades for his expertise in the food and beverage industry. He was awarded the Culinary Institute of America Gold Medal as well as the Royal Academy of Spanish Gastronomy and both named him Universal Ambassador. Salazar is currently the Executive Vice President of E-Spain, a company he co-founded in 2017; an international multidisciplinary company that specializes in the creation of international culinary competitions and culinary internships in the best restaurants in Spain. Most recently, his work with E-Spain, involving an educational documentary produced for this year's virtual International Mushroom Congress of Castilla y Leon Soria Gastronomica, has been selected to participate in the International Film Festival: Life-off Global Network.
He is also the co-creator of The World Tapas Competition, traditionally held in Spain. Salazar is looking to bring the First International Tapas Competition of the Americas, where chefs will be invited from every country in North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. Similarly, Salazar is the co-creator of the International Black Truffle Competition, which is typically held in Spain as well. The next competition will take place in December of 2021 where 15 international chefs must bring along a culinary student to form a team and represent their country.
