NEW YORK, Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Saturday February 16th, 2019 Street Fashion Week closed New York Fashion Week with their flagship fashion show featuring eleven emerging designers. Amongst the plethora of New York Fashion Week shows, Street Fashion Week is the only show dedicated exclusively to street-wear. Street Fashion Week, is expanding boundaries in a narrow market while rendering a voice and platform to emerging street-wear designers. To respond to overcrowding at their previous shows, Street Fashion Week broke up their production into two segments; a 1pm daytime show and a 6pm evening show.
Taking stage in the heart of Manhattan's, SoHo, this year's show started off with host Antyon Lemonte welcoming the audience and bringing company founder, Naomi Alabi, to center stage. Naomi Alabi greeted the audience expressing her gratitude for their support and spoke briefly of the company's mission to continue to provide a voice to emerging streetwear designers. The series of runway shows was kicked off by the first designer, Jevon Terance and his army of models as they took the stage. Jevon is an Ohio based designer who displayed a collection titled "Tokyo Neon." One by one, models walked out with pieces from his collection that featured hand-made garments that sparked positive reaction from audience based on endless applauds. Next came LA based plus sized designer, A+plus LA. Designer Arri displayed a collection titled "FU, I do what I want" meant to combat the policing of sexuality and expressiveness of plus sized women. Each piece was meant to liberate the corresponding model as a giant "FU, I do what I want" to society. The designs of A+Plus LA was followed by Philly based designer, Majeeda Monae who displayed her "Ocho- 8 ball" collection. Finally to close the 1 pm show was FIT student, Lenny Vuitton who recently made a custom piece for Cadi B and her daughter. Lenny displayed a beautifully crafted, hand made, hand painted collection which was the perfect representation of ""where art meets fashion. The 1 pm show was closed out by a live musical performance from New York rising talent, Emcee Don Mykel, who commanded the audience's' attention with his provocative lyrics and unique sound
Hours later the 6pm show was a continuation of a series of runway shows in the Street Fashion Week brand. Again the 6pm show was opened with a greeting from host Antyon Lemonte and welcome from Street Fashion Week owner, Naomi Alabi. One by one, designers showcased their collections to an excited, packed house in the following order: Muvez, Lenny Vuitton, Significant Problems, Asnclr, MCconyc, A+Plus LA, Tier NYC, Black Merchant, Black Merchants Society, Majeeda Monae, and Jevon Terance.
Fashionistas looking to find out new trends in Street-style are encouraged to checkout this innovative show as Street Fashion Week presents collections from their latest generation of emerging designers down the runway. Each season, Street Fashion Week hand selects the next generation of the industry's most promising designers, takes them through their Street University Mentorship Platform, and feature them on the runway as a celebratory event completion.
At the wrap of the show, guests enjoyed a live art installation, cocktails, and an evening of entertainment.
