StreetShares Foundation Sponsors the 4th Annual Veterans Awards Honoring Military Veterans
WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) January 18, 2019 -- The StreetShares Foundation announces sponsorship of the Vettys®, a black-tie awards show presented by the Academy of United States Veterans (AUSV) to honor military community leaders, innovators and the leading veterans’ organizations. The Vettys®, hosted by CNN’s Jake Tapper, will be held on Jan. 20, 2019 at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC. Military leaders, the leading veteran service organizations, and prominent government officials will be in attendance along with Hollywood actors, including Academy Award winner Casey Affleck, Ian Bohen, Academy Award nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Nate Boyer. The event will honor the most impactful veterans’ organizations – as nominated and voted by military veterans. Special tributes of the lives of President George H.W. Bush and Senator John McCain are also planned.
Mark L. Rockefeller, Air Force Veteran and Chairman of the StreetShares Foundation Board serves as Chairman of the Vettys® Board of Governors. “The Vettys® – now in its 4th year – has become an event of significant national reach,” said Rockefeller. “It’s a night for the entire nation to come together, put all differences aside, and celebrate the veteran’s community.” The Board of Governors is comprised of fifteen military community thought-leaders, entrepreneurs and advocates.
The Vettys® will administer awards for the following categories: Employment, Leadership, Mental Health, Lifetime Achievement, Veterans Choice, Women Veterans and Veterans Homelessness.
StreetShares Foundation will also introduce a new award category: The Veteran-Owned Small Business Entrepreneurship Award. This award will allow the military community to recognize a veteran for exceptional accomplishment in entrepreneurship and social impact. The Academy of United States Veterans will begin accepting nominations for this and all award categories for the 2020 Vettys® beginning fall 2019.
