Stryker Hip Lawsuit News: Claims in Federal and State Stryker Hip Recall Litigations Surpassed 700 Last Month, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports
New York, New York (PRWEB) November 02, 2013 -- More than 700 Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.strykerhiprecallclaims.com/) stemming from last year’s recall of Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems are now pending in courts throughout the country, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to an updated Case List issued by New Jersey Superior Court on October 23rd, more than 430 Stryker hip lawsuits have been filed in a multicounty litigation underway in Bergen County Superior Court. (In Re Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Stem and the ABG II Modular Hip Stem Litigation, No. 296) An update issued by the U.S. Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation on October 17th indicates that at least 346 claims involving similar allegations have been filed in a multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. “Our firm is representing numerous individuals in the New Jersey proceeding who were allegedly injured by Stryker’s Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems, and we continue to hear from recipients of these components on a regular basis. It is not at all surprising that the number of Stryker hip lawsuit filings has now passed the 700 mark,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free Stryker hip lawsuit evaluations to individuals who have suffered serious complications, allegedly due to the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.
Stryker Hip Lawsuits
According to court documents, all of the plaintiffs with claims pending in the Stryker hip recall litigations are alleged to have suffered serious complications, including metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, and failure of the hip, as a result of toxic metal debris shed from the recalled hip stems. The next Case Management Conference in the New Jersey proceeding has been scheduled for November 18th. The federal litigation will hold a Status Conference on November 21st.
The Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012, after post-market surveillance data indicated the Rejuvenate and ABG II components were prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction. According to Stryker, patients fitted with these implants could be at risk for pain, swelling and adverse local tissue reactions which may require revision surgery to replace the failing hip. Stryker has advised all Rejuvenate and ABG II recipients to undergo blood testing and cross sectional imaging, regardless of their symptoms, to ensure the hips are functioning properly.*
Individuals who suffered metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, or other complications, allegedly due to Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be entitled to file a Stryker hip lawsuit to obtain compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.
