A new article by Beth Netter MD and AMI Meditation Study co-author, published in the March 2023 issue of the Transformation journal, reports that all study participants, from 2017 through 2020, were graduates of AMI's annual 'Heart and Science of Yoga' conference. And for the subgroup of physician participants who completed the study during the early stages of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, "Secondary Traumatic Stress scores were reduced 25.7%, Burnout scores were reduced 21.5%, and Compassion Satisfaction scores improved 13.2%."
Leonard Perlmutter, AMI founder, curriculum developer and faculty director, acknowledges that an increase in administrative tasks and other demands have had a direct correlation to both the decrease in meaningful time interacting with colleagues and the growing physician burnout epidemic.
