Study Shows Peace Education Program Benefits University Students

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A new evaluation of the Peace Education Program by the Unihorizonte University Foundation of Bogotá, Colombia found that the course empowered 97% of participating students to be more aware of their inner resources as valuable tools for their lives.

The independent evaluation found that the program resulted in "enhanced appreciation for life" and "empowerment to make changes in one's own life, and in relating to others."

The Prem Rawat Foundation's (TPRF) Peace Education Program is an innovative workshop series that gives participants the opportunity to focus and reflect on their own humanity and their inner resources such as choice, hope and dignity. The University Foundation study revealed that the awareness of these inner resources among students increased from 55% to 97%.

Each workshop features video excerpts of TPRF Founder Prem Rawat's inspiring presentations on peace and related topics such as inner strength, self-awareness and appreciation. Facilitated reflection time, participant discussions, workbook activities and reading materials vary the workshops, making them engaging and fun.

The University Foundation study includes several testimonials from students to demonstrate the personal transformation that the workshops empower.

In Colombia, the Peace Education Program has been integrated into the government's reconciliation efforts at public schools in Atlántico and Antioquia and at educational centers for peace and reconciliation.

The results in Colombia mirror a growing body of evidence of the program's success around the world in diverse settings beyond schools. Overall, more than 200,000 people in 70 countries have now participated in the Peace Education Program.

In South Africa, the Johannesburg Department of Social Development designated the program as one of the essential services needed to help people cope with the COVID-19 crisis. The Department conducted a study that found the program helped over 95% of participants in homeless shelters, with benefits including enhanced self-awareness, tolerance, love, inner peace, contentment and self-reliance.

Another comprehensive study found that 89 percent of incarcerated participants in four continents benefited by helping them feel empowered to face past events, gain a willingness to change, better manage their anger and avoid fighting.

An analysis of diverse participants in a variety of settings across the world found that the program grew the number of people who believed that feeling peace was possible in their lives from 42 percent to nearly 100 percent.
