As Long Island continues to become more diverse, a public/private partnership between Suffolk County Water (SCWA) Authority and Minority Millennials aims at strengthening meaningful career opportunities for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).
OAKDALE, N.Y., Aug. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SCWA, a trusted public benefit corporation that supplies safe drinking water to 1.2 million residents of Suffolk County, is joining forces with Minority Millennials, a NY-based nonprofit organization focused on local BIPOC workforce development, to increase awareness of career opportunities among underrepresented job seekers in the water industry, as part of its ongoing commitment to creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce.
"SCWA's partnership with Minority Millennials is a critical and timely one," said Janice Tinsley James, Deputy CEO for Customer Service, Suffolk County Water Authority. "It positions us to continue our commitment to ensure our workplace culture is inclusive to individuals from all walks of life who can thrive and grow in many areas. To fulfill that promise, we must continue developing an environment that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion."
Together, SCWA and Minority Millennials will seek to recruit diverse staff at all levels through a targeted and interactive digital marketing campaign that invites Long Island's growing diverse population to explore and apply for exciting positions.
"In their own words, SCWA is 'a company on the move.' We applaud their genuine dedication to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and are honored to be a part of their journey," said Dan Lloyd, Founder & President, Minority Millennials, Inc. "Much too often, DEI initiatives within corporations fall short of their promise, due to a lack of measurable action. This is a shining example of what real action looks and feels like."
Minority Millennials plans to highlight SCWA's job openings to the broad community the corporation serves, alongside elevating its values and the many avenues through which BIPOC employees can flourish at a cutting-edge company that's leading the way within its industry.
