Summer Camp Live Offers the World’s First and Only Virtual Camp Fair; Online camp fair is accessible 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day
Miami, FL (PRWEB) March 07, 2014 -- With summer season soon approaching, the first virtual tour of the year was held on February 25, 2014. Summer camps had the opportunity to “exhibit” their camps in virtual booths and parents and campers interacted live to get their questions answered.
Summer Camp Live was founded in 2012 by Vicky di Colloredo-Mels, a former banker, who left the industry in search of new and exciting opportunities. With a background in education and a desire to create a career path she was passionate about, di Colloredo-Mels, a mother of two teens, was introduced to the summer camp industry by a friend. She was amazed at how a camp experience can positively affect the life of a child and in turn affect society as a whole. She fell in love with it and wanted to spread the word to other cultures and other countries. Having successfully introduced the summer camp concept to an international client, she knew then there was huge potential to educate consumers about camp not only in the U.S. but around the world.
Tying in her banking experience working with virtual fairs for universities and students, di Colloredo-Mels found there was a gap between the camps and the parents and campers searching for information and for their perfect camp. She also saw how costly and time consuming it was for camps and parents to physically attend camp industry fairs around the country. “Our mission is to help parents and campers from different backgrounds and cultures around the world find the best summer camp or summer program, and we’ve accomplished that through the introduction of our virtual camp fair experience. With so many options available today, our virtual camp fairs are the perfect conduit between camps and future campers and their parents who want to make the best decision in the most efficient way possible,” said di Colloredo-Mels.
Summer Camp Live is an affiliate of the American Camp Association (ACA), a community of camp professionals who have joined together to share knowledge and experience and to ensure the quality of camp programs, and works to preserve, promote, and improve the camp experience. Summer Camp Live joins in ACA’s commitment to enable 20 million children to go to camp by 2020.
According to the ACA’s: Youth Outcomes of the Camp Experience report, parents cited that among other things, camp helped their children develop social skills, make friends, increase in independence, gain leadership skills and build self-confidence and self-esteem within a safe environment. “We want to educate and inform consumers of the ‘goodness of camp.’ Once parents learn, for example, that there is a connection between summer camp and education, and that studies have shown that kids who go to summer camp are better prepared to perform well in school and in life, they’ll be more inclined to send their kids to camp” said di Colloredo-Mels.
