Full DC Power Chain Visibility with Real-Time DC Power Utilization and Capacity Simplifies Management of Thousands of Remote Sites

Sunbird Software, the global innovator in data center management software, today announced the general availability of its latest dcTrack® Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Operations software.

Full Support for Direct Current Power Chain Objects and Calculations

With Release 7.1, dcTrack now fully supports all direct current -48 Volt power chain objects and calculations. When the load of compute devices is connected to a direct current power chain, dcTrack will serve as an electrical engineer and accurately perform all the necessary calculations to ensure that the load can be handled by the power chain, reducing unexpected downtime. New supported objects include fuse alarm panels, battery distribution bays, power plant rectifiers, and battery strings. dcTrack performs battery runtime calculations based on detailed battery specifications and the present plant load. The user can further simulate future expected load and model the effect on battery runtime.

Release 7.1 solidifies Sunbird’s position as the industry standard in second-generation DCIM with brand-new dashboard widgets that provide zero-configuration analytics and business intelligence.

“The new dashboard widgets continue our vision of transforming data into actionable insights,” said Herman Chan, President, Sunbird Software. “Data center devices and soon Edge and 5G sites will generate a massive volume and variety of data, but many data center managers don’t have the time or training to be able to collect that data, analyze it, gain insights from it, and ultimately derive value from it. We listened to our customers for what Key Performance Indicators matter most to them, and with Release 7.1, Sunbird provides those metrics out of the box in zero-configuration dashboard widgets that make it fast and easy for data center managers to access the most important information on their data center resources and capacities.”

New Dashboard KPIs Simplify Data Center Business Intelligence & Analytics

dcTrack Release 7.1 introduces new dashboard widgets to deliver data center managers at-a-glance views of their most important data center KPIs. The Power Chain Breaker Utilization widget allows greater insight into the power chain, providing data center managers the ability to get the most out of their existing resources and avoid bottlenecks and costly downtime. The Historical Item Counts widget gives data center managers a simple view of the rate of growth of their asset counts over time and can be filtered by function. dcTrack now has over 100 dashboard widgets, each of which can be drilled down to provide thousands of detailed reports to help data center managers make the most-informed, data-driven decisions.

“With dcTrack, it has never been easier to see and analyze all the data being collected in our data center,” said Tim Healy, Comcast. “The solution provides dashboard widgets for everything I need to monitor, right out of the box.”

“As the size and complexity of infrastructure grows, the ability to analyze data not only from facilities but also from servers, networks, and applications will become essential and more operators will look to advanced DCIM software to help,” said Daniel Bizo, Principal Analyst, 451 Research - a part of S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Additional new features in Release 7.1 include configurable breaker derating, international date format enhancements, move items in bulk using file import, color-coded cabinets and contents in 3D view by item field values, edit item attributes in bulk directly in the UI, easier impact analysis, and much more.
