Suns Out, Buns Out in Berts Footwear Australia's Cheeky Video that Takes Flip Flops to Task
Australia's Berts Footwear worked with Brandon Borror-Chappell to create a cheeky video that takes flip flops to task just in time for National Flip Flop Day.
PERTH, Australia, June 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Berts Footwear is hoping to make Americans and Australians laugh out loud in its newest promotional video – released just in time for National Flip Flop Day – June 14th. The company, which specializes in close-toed beach slippers, combines wit with wordplay in the video, which highlights the double entendre of the word thong. In America, it's usually used to describe underwear, while in Australia, locals use it to talk about their flip flops.
Berts Footwear's Founder, Alice Hartman, sought the help of New York-based comedian and writer, Brandon Borror-Chappell, to create a video that would make both intended audiences laugh. The video was produced by an in-house team, and it features local actors and models. Check it out here.
"We had so much fun creating this video. Brandon put together a script that used just the right bit of humor to highlight the duality of the word thong while poking a little bit of fun at flip flops. I don't want to give too much of the short video's plot away, because it will ruin the fun if you haven't seen it yet – but we took intentional risks to make sure our audience doesn't feel like they're watching a commercial. Instead they'll see a comedic short that leaves them wanting to share it with their friends," noted Hartman.
Berts Footwear is designed to be worn on adventurous days when the only real plan is leaving the house. The effortlessly-stylish design, combined with the shoes' functionality makes Berts wearable in almost any situation. This season's collection includes the brand's original waterproof beach slipper in black, hot pink, rose pink, snake print, and leopard print. Each cruelty-free (PETA approved) pair is made from a vegan, washable, anti-microbial and odor-resistant EVA material that naturally molds to the wearer's feet and offers shock absorbency for maximum comfort. The slip-on waterproof beach slippers start at $34 for solids and go up to $39 for prints.
"I designed our original collection based on the idea of wanting a modernized flip flop without compromising on the practicality and affordability that flip flops offer– I want the women who wear our shoes to be able to go run their errands and stop for an adventure in the sand along the way. The Berts Footwear beach slipper is stylish enough to wear on a date, and offers the convenience of a thong - so a Berts girl can go places," Hartman noted.
