CANCUN, Mexico, June 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- With great joy, Cancun and the Riviera Maya welcomed the first tourists and restarted Quintana Roo's economic activity. Slowly, since June 1, hotels are beginning to reopen with the allowed percentage of guests and have all implemented the safety procedures recommended by health authorities. This includes careful cleaning and sanitizing, which is why Cancun was one of the first destinations in the world to receive the World Travel and Tourism Council Safe Travels seal.
One example is the Sunset Royal resort in Cancun, part of Sunset World Group, which recently welcomed its first guests in a very special way. The guests arrived at the airport and were transported to the resort in a van, which drove up the access ramp to the motor lobby led by a woman dressed in traditional "charro" clothing and carrying the Mexican flag, and accompanied by mariachis playing a traditional mariachi song. Hotel employees were standing along the side of the ramp, with a healthy distance of 3 meters between them, applauding.
The van parked in the motor lobby and the guests stepped on to a red carpet facing a large sign that read "Welcome Home". They were also greeted by spectacular Caribbean dancers, confetti and flashing lights. Next, the guests cut a red ribbon to reopen the hotel, entered the sanitation tunnel and, once inside, were offered a welcome cocktail and received gifts, while the new digital check-in procedure was explained to them. The new process was created to speed up the check in process and avoid crowding. They also received a kit that included a mask, gloves and sanitizing gel, and signed the book of distinguished visitors. After check-in, they were shown to their room where they could look out over the Sunset Royal's beautiful beach. They were thrilled to see a large drawing in the sand welcoming them again.
"For destinations like Cancun and the Riviera Maya, welcoming the first visitors with this new reality is definitely a source of joy, and at Sunset World Group, this is how we are celebrating," said David Bárcenas, Sunset Royal General Manager, "We know that serving our members and guests is our company's reason for being and our way of life as individuals," he concluded.
