STOUGHTON, Mass., Feb. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Din Jenkins, CEO, founder, and chief facilitator of Supply The Why, will be recognized as a Black Excellence Honoree by the Massachusetts Black & Latino Legislative Caucus during the Black Excellence on the Hill event on Friday, February 26. Supply The Why focuses on enabling teams and organizations of all sizes to have difficult conversations around diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace, and other hot-button issues of the day.
State Representative William C. Galvin nominated Din for this honor in recognition of his work both as an Administrative Sergeant in the Stoughton Police Department and with Supply The Why. According to Rep. Galvin, "I was proud to nominate Din to be an Honoree for the MBLLC's 2021 Black Excellence on the Hill celebration. Din has been a strong leader in the Town of Stoughton and is very deserving of this recognition. Through Supply the Why and his role in the Stoughton Police Department, he has proven to be a great asset to the community."
Supply The Why started in June in response to the killing of George Floyd, when a group of youth approached Din, who they knew from his time as an SRO at Stoughton High School, to discuss the killing and the Movement for Black Lives. Through these talks, he came to see a need for a safe place to have difficult conversations – and Supply The Why was born. Today, in addition to a weekly podcast and other multimedia conversations, Supply The Why also provides customized Diversity & Inclusion training to municipal organizations, companies, and community groups.
"We've only been at this for less than a year and to be recognized for our impact is truly exciting," said Din Jenkins, CEO and Chief Facilitator, Supply The Why. "I am very proud that we are able to facilitate these difficult conversations, and make them happen from a place of trust and respect – it gives me great hope. I truly appreciate the Massachusetts Black & Latino Legislative Caucus recognizing and celebrating what we have been able to do."
