This bill raises the amount of the surety bond, needed to maintain the license or company registration for pest control companies from $4,000 to $12,500. The bill also raises the upper limits of the amount of the surety bond needed for an issuance, re-issuance, or restoration of the license or company registration, after a suspension or revocation, from $8,000 to $25,000. January 1st, 2014, the California Structural Pest Control Board will be requiring registered companies to maintain a bond of $12,500 and the bill waives the ability of an applicant to post a certificate of deposit in lieu of a bond. Companies that already meet the new minimum requirements do not need to submit anything to the Board.
