Surgeon Shares Stirring Journey to Christ in New Faith-Based Memoir
'What's Up, Doc? A Surgeon's Story' follows God's presence in Dr. Riaz Mohammed's life, from his humble beginnings in Pakistan to his sweeping success as a surgeon in Scotland
EDINBURGH, Scotland, Oct. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. Riaz Mohammed has published the inspiring testimony of his conversion from Islam to Christianity and his subsequent journey through familial alienation, prejudice in his medical career and a personal health crisis.
In "What's Up, Doc? A Surgeon's Story," Dr. Mohammed chronicles his early life in Pakistan, shares his perspective of growing up Muslim and follows his family's immigration to Scotland when he was still a child. After seeing a vision of Jesus Christ at age 16, he committed himself to the Christian faith and, in the process, faced pushback and rejection from the people he loved most. Nevertheless, he found that Christ was his rock and knew that God would work in miraculous ways.
Dr. Mohammed studied hard and became a surgeon; however, at the pinnacle of his career and when he had just started a family of his own, he developed a liver infection and found himself starting his life anew. Ultimately, "What's Up, Doc? A Surgeon's Story" explores the importance of Dr. Mohammed's faith and how it has carried him through all the challenges he has come up against.
"The most important reason, which remains above all the others, for my writing this autobiography is simply to show what my life is all about in relationship to God," Dr. Mohammed wrote in the introduction to his book. "It isn't that my life and walk with God has somehow been perfect in every way; that is simply not so. God knows fully how often I have made mistakes and let Him and others down. It is only through His sovereign grace and mercy that I stand where I stand today."
"What's Up, Doc? A Surgeon's Story" puts forth Dr. Mohammed's candid account of how Jesus acted in his life and shares his point of view on why Christianity is the true, God-given religion. The book also provides a glimpse into important modern issues, such as how immigrants often experience prejudice and are treated as outsiders in the Western world.
