Sweet Southern Walkers Unite in the Fight to End Alzheimer’s
DESTIN, Fla. (PRWEB) October 11, 2018 -- As an annual event this September, a team of employees from Southern Rentals & Real Estate known as the “Sweet Southern Walkers” took to the streets of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Through numerous fundraising efforts, including employee-based fundraising, the team exceeded their goal and raised over $13,000 for the cause. The proceeds directly benefit the Central & North Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Led by Southern Residential Leasing General Manager Wendy Hayden, the property management company spearheaded the initiative for the Emerald Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The team’s fundraising efforts included Give Back Night at The Gulf Restaurant on Okaloosa Island, Fla., where a portion of the proceeds from the evening was donated to the Sweet Southern Walkers.
Southern also extends the opportunity for donations to their guests during the booking process. The Southern Cares program invites guests to donate via Southern’s website or when working with a Reservation Agent, either to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida. It is because of these efforts that Southern is able to continuously contribute to these charities.
“It is an incredible honor to be able to give back to our local community,” said Southern Owner Kevin Veach. “This charity is near and dear to many of our employees, and we are proud of the opportunity to have a positive impact on them.” Veach was the top earner among the Sweet Southern Walkers team.
