In our search for the right site selection software partner, SiteSeer stood out as a company that offers affordable solutions and an impressive platform to augment our retail recruitment efforts with solid data and methodology.

The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition, a partnership between the cities of Rock Springs and Green River, Sweetwater County, Wyoming, has engaged SiteSeer Technologies to use the SiteSeer platform to bolster its retail recruitment strategy.
Founded in 2016, the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition covers county-wide economic development initiatives. The coalition will use SiteSeer and the Communities City Government Expansion Pack to identify opportunities for retail and restaurant expansion.
Kayla McDonald, business development manager for the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition, says that her organization partnered with the University of Wyoming to study the retail landscape in the area and identified 10 retail gaps to focus on in their recruitment efforts.
“We were looking for a partner to help us attract great retailers and restaurants to Green River and Rock Springs,” she says. “With newly elected officials in the county commissioner’s and mayor’s offices, we are eager to kick off a retail expansion effort in 2019 to replace some of the anchor tenants that we’ve lost and bring other great businesses to the region.”
McDonald says that population growth in Sweetwater County has risen steadily. Rock Springs, the largest town in the county, has a diverse economy composed of trona mining and production, education, coal mining, healthcare, and oil and gas. The coalition’s goal is to fill retail gaps and make intelligent choices when partnering with businesses.
“In our search for the right site selection software partner, SiteSeer stood out as a company that offers affordable solutions and an impressive platform to augment our retail recruitment efforts with solid data and methodology,” McDonald says. “We want to approach this proactively and attend conferences like the International Council of Shopping Centers RECon to help us market ourselves and go after what we want. We’re excited that SiteSeer Professional will help us do that.”
Sam Lowder, vice president of business development for SiteSeer, says that Sweetwater County is at the perfect stage in its growth to make great use of SiteSeer’s tools for community analysis, surplus and leakage analysis, and creating retail recruiting packets. “Our team is pleased to partner with Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition to help this vibrant community fill their retail gaps with great businesses,” he says. “We are confident SiteSeer will help the towns of Rock Springs and Green River and the surrounding area bring retail to the community and enhance residents’ quality of life.
