Synergis Joins Brenau University for High-demand Blended Degree Programs
MESA, Ariz. (PRWEB) July 30, 2018 -- Synergis Education Inc. recently announced that it will assist Gainesville, Georgia-based Brenau University to enroll candidates for three degree programs in education and nursing at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree levels.
Pending approval by all appropriate licensing and accreditation organizations, the degrees include an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing for family nurse practitioners and a doctorate in education with concentrations in higher education leadership, early childhood education and middle grades education.
“Our primary goal is to support Brenau University in developing a strategic roadmap for expanded opportunity for students seeking entrance into these new and expanding programs,” said Norm Allgood, founder and CEO of Synergis Education. “This enables the programs to grow rapidly to meet the demand without diluting the quality of the academic environment.”
The 140-year-old university has held full university status since the early 1990s and currently operates undergraduate and graduate degree programs on four campuses in Georgia and one in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1999 Brenau became the first private, not-for-profit institution in Georgia to offer online degree programs.
Brenau began training nurses with four-year undergraduate degrees in 1974. In 2010 the university began enrolling students for its first doctorate – the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
Educating classroom teachers also has been a strong suit for Brenau throughout its history. Teacher education is so highly regarded that the first 2+2 agreement between Brenau and Anhui Normal University in China was in early childhood education.

Schrader said that both nurses and education administrators are careers that rank highly on the U.S. Department of Labor’s annual listing of best-paid and most recession-proof jobs in America.
Dr. John Donohue, chief academic and development officer with Synergis, said that the successful academic institution today must embody, “three points of excellence,” in its pursuit of academic goals: a willingness to embrace multiple delivery options in its academic portfolio; the capacity to identify and act on new opportunities; and consistent support from institutional leadership for linking academic initiatives with the institution’s strategic vision.“When we look at prospects for success in our partnership with Brenau,” he said, “we see all three.”
Synergis will initially embed seven of its employees at Brenau locations to work seamlessly with the Brenau enrollment management personnel in the direct recruitment of students for the three programs. The company under direction of university administrative personnel will develop and execute marketing strategies and tactics to advertise and promote the programs to targeted prospects. Synergis also will consult with academic personnel in structuring curriculum and course scheduling.
With a projected launch date of January 2019 and pending required approvals by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Synergis will work with Brenau College of Education to recruit candidates for a doctorate designed for mid-career teachers and administrators seeking to enhance their credentials for moving to higher levels in their profession through completion of a terminal degree that builds on their knowledge and expertise.
Brenau’s Mary Inez Grindle School of Nursing, meanwhile, already offers a fully accredited Master of Science in Nursing for family nurse practitioners. However, Synergis will help Brenau expand the overall program reach by recruiting and training qualified candidates with bachelor’s degrees in nursing to move to a higher level of direct patient care in a wide variety of health care settings, including clinics, community-based settings, long-term care facilities and hospitals.
The new accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, or ABSN, already approved, is designed to enable individuals with bachelor’s degrees in areas other than nursing to expand their undergraduate credentials through a focused, full-time program leading to the BSN and eligibility to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination.
All three programs will be based on the university’s North Atlanta/Norcross campus.
