As part of SYNLawn's yearlong partnership with SPCA International, the company recently completed one of eight landscape donation projects currently in the works at SPCA International partner shelters. The animal shelter in Port St. Lucie, Florida, houses approximately 150 animals, including 65 to 75 dogs. With the help of SYNLawn, the shelter added a third play yard by transforming an unused field into a fenced-in area where small dogs can play and exercise outside.
"Having a fenced area like this where dogs can run free really helps us reduce or even eliminate some common behavioral problems like digging, chewing and barking. The dogs' behaviors have improved so much they become more adoptable," said David Robertson, director of administration for Humane Society of St. Lucie County, Inc. "We've been able to increase our adoption rates because we've had healthier, happier and better behaved animals. Whenever we can get one more into a happy home, it makes it so much better for all of us."
