SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif., Jan. 21, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- T3 Sixty, the residential real estate brokerage industry's leading management consulting and research firm, announced the creation of The Real Estate Apprentice Foundation, a nonprofit to help individuals from underrepresented and underprivileged groups pursue a career as a real estate agent. The Foundation, a Texas corporation, last week received its 501(c)3 approval under the Internal Revenue Code to operate as a charitable organization.
"The Real Estate Apprentice Foundation is designed as an industrywide effort, and we hope that brokerages, associations, MLSs and vendors from across the country will support the Foundation to make the residential real estate brokerage industry more diverse and representative," says Stefan Swanepoel, the Foundation's founder and the CEO and chairman of T3 Sixty. Swanepoel personally donated $100,000 to help jumpstart the Foundation and T3 Sixty jumped in by appointing Kenya Burrell-VanWormer as the Foundation's first executive director. Burrell currently leads T3 Sixty's diversity consulting practice as a senior vice president and will initially focus her Foundation efforts on coordinating sponsors and benefactors before grants start in the third quarter of 2021.
The goal of the Foundation is to assist those who want to become a real estate agent with various tools, technology, services, Realtor association memberships, MLS fees and a path for working at a real estate brokerage company. The Foundation also hopes to provide cash grants to help subsidize some of the startup costs related to licensing.
"It is hard to get into real estate, but it is much harder to stay in real estate and remain consistently successful," said Kenya Burrell-VanWormer, herself a former real estate agent. Burrell-VanWormer is a sixth-generation Texan and native Houstonian and has been involved in real estate for almost two decades. Her achievements earned her honors as the Houston Association of Realtors' Realtor of the Year in 2009. "It is extremely important to create role models and roadmaps for those who have a dream of becoming a successful Realtor," Swanepoel said.
The Foundation has an audacious goal of raising $100 million in donations and sponsorships over the next decade and using that to help 40,000 people enter the real estate industry and build toward successful, long-lasting careers. All brokerages, agents, vendors, associations and MLSs are encouraged to participate in this meaningful cause by providing donations, services and support of any size.
Swanepoel announced that a board of governors representing a broad swath of industry players will oversee the Foundation's activities. He committed to make it the most diverse and well-balanced board in the residential real estate industry. The first board of 20 members is slated to be announced March 2021.
