We use technology to enhance these experiences of exploration in the hopes that as we venture forward into the outdoors we are better prepared and come out learning something about ourselves and the world.

Hydra 3, the revolutionary new terrain-adaptive bike light designed to provide maximum visibility at night, is live on global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and raising funds to bring the project to life.

Riding at night is an adrenaline rush. Familiar trails and roads feel new and the sense of exploration is invigorating. For far too long though, standard bike light systems have failed to evolve beyond high lumen output, wide light beams. The Hydra 3 is a breakthrough new product that maximizes visibility by utilizing proprietary terrain-adaptive technology. The light merges advanced electronics and software to sense motion and automatically steer the light around corners like the headlights on high-end luxury cars. Now riders don’t have to feel they are compromising when riding past dusk.

“The inspiration for the Hydra 3 bike light came from two groups of people. The first are individuals who work standard hours and are starting their rides when the sun is already setting but keep getting after it whenever they can,” says co-founder Chris Slaughter. “The second is the adventure and endurance riders, who often don't want to have excess weight on their head for extended periods of time. We wanted to make the experience better for both of these groups.”

The proprietary terrain-adaptive lighting system gives the Hydra 3 the capability to adapt to rider inputs with no additional equipment required. Light stays on the trail, rather than staying centrally focused like traditional lights, so users can ride smoother, faster and safer. This occurs while improving brightness, increasing battery life and makes it so if riders don't want to run a helmet light, they don't have to.

The Hydra 3 boasts a 2-hour run time at full brightness, a 3400 mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, a USB-C charging port, a 900 lumen equivalent output, hybrid power technology and neutral color 5000K LEDs. If users need to ride longer than 2 hours it has the option to use a USB battery pack to power the light for an indefinite period of time.

"We are product enthusiast and outdoor enthusiasts. We chose the name Mystic Devices for our company because the world has so many unknowns to explore and learn about, and a fascination with the interpretation of those unknowns in historic culture. We have a modern take on it where we use technology to enhance these experiences of exploration in the hopes that as we venture forward into the outdoors we are better prepared and come out learning something about ourselves and the world.”
