SEATTLE, Sept. 9, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today TalkSocket launched their debut namesake product, a small device that attaches to smartphones for completely hands-free use of Amazon Alexa from anywhere. TalkSocket is now available on Kickstarter for $49.99.
Unlike the variety of push-to-talk Alexa accessories on the market, TalkSocket is completely voice-activated. TalkSocket sends commands to the Alexa app over Bluetooth to process the request immediately, even if a user's phone is locked.
The Alexa app works much differently on most phones than an Echo speaker does at home, requiring customers to unlock their phones, enter the app, and tap the activate button before issuing a command. With TalkSocket, Alexa is triggered immediately with a wake word.
TalkSocket also supports hands-free Google Assistant on iOS devices.
"TalkSocket gives voice assistant users a way to experience the same convenience and sophistication they enjoy at home wherever they go," said TalkSocket CEO Andrew DeLorenzo. "Whether they want to check if they turned off the lights via their smart home setup or use voice assistant features on the go, they can now do so 100% hands-free wherever they are."
TalkSocket partnered with PopSockets and OtterBox, two internationally celebrated mobile accessory companies. By integrating with PopSockets' accordion and swappable base, the gadget easily attaches to any phone or compatible PopSockets accessory, and merges perfectly with OtterBox's Otter + Pop cases.
"The functionality of a PopSockets PopGrip combined with the voice-activated convenience of Alexa will seamlessly integrate into our customer's day-to-day activities," said David Barnett, CEO of PopSockets. "This collaboration between best-in-class technologies will provide a heightened level of experience for PopSockets users."
"At OtterBox, we're always excited to see the mobile industry evolve to better integrate technology into our daily lives," said Aaron Stevens, Vice President of Business Development at Otter Products. "TalkSocket will bridge a major gap in usability for the top home voice assistant program, and we're thrilled that the product will integrate seamlessly into our award-winning Otter + Pop cases."
TalkSocket's battery life lasts up to five days on one charge by using energy-efficient chip architecture and foregoing power-hungry speakers. When it's time to recharge it, TalkSocket's swappability makes it easy to remove and toss onto any Qi wireless charging pad.
Amazon Alexa is by far the most popular voice assistant in US households. Of the 157M home smart speakers in the US, 70% of the market currently uses Alexa, but only 17% of voice assistant interactions on smartphones are with Alexa. While Amazon is building Alexa wearables like glasses and rings to meet mobile needs, most third-party offerings are replacements for devices customers already own.
"Most of us have earbuds and Bluetooth speakers we already love and they weren't cheap," said Chandler Murch, TalkSocket CTO. "Why replace them all just to add Alexa? When you use TalkSocket, you'll hear Alexa through your phone's speaker, headphones, or even your car stereo system."
