Tallgrass Freight Company's Aggressive Growth Continues with Acquisition of Westport Business Group
Tallgrass Freight Company this week announced the completed acquisition of Westport Business Group, which will expand both Tallgrass Freight's book of business and team.
SHAWNEE, Kan., Aug. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tallgrass Freight Company this week announced the completed acquisition of Westport Business Group, which will expand both Tallgrass Freight's book of business and team.
Westport Business Group was formed in 2010 by principles Jeremy Hill and Scott Ragan, each of who bring more than 15 years of freight industry experience to the table.
As a result of the acquisition, Hill and Ragan will join Tallgrass Freight as directors of truckload operations. Additionally, Tallgrass Freight will absorb Westport Business Group's book of business, bringing Tallgrass Freight's world-class transportation logistics services to an even larger group of customers.
"We are extremely excited to have Westport Business Group join the Tallgrass Freight family," said David Barnes, Chief Operating Officer, Tallgrass Freight Company. "We not only added a great group of customers to our business, but we also added a valuable asset with both Jeremy and Scott's experience."
Barnes said Hill and Ragan's extensive knowledge will help guide the expansion of Tallgrass Freight offices to the West Coast as the company continues an aggressive growth plan.
"Our organic growth has been tremendous," Barnes said. "We're projected to finish 2018 with 700% growth over our 2016 revenue. And this gives us significant momentum going into 2019, during which we expect to again double our revenue."
Additionally, Tallgrass Freight Company is continuing due diligence on two more acquisitions, one of which is expected to close by 2018. At this rate, the company will be on track to hit a momentous milestone in just three years.
"By adding revenue through acquisitions and continued organic growth, we expect to be a $100 million company by 2021," Barnes said.
This accelerated pace of growth hasn't gone unnoticed. Tallgrass Freight recently received the company's second consecutive placement on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in America. Additionally, Tallgrass Freight Company is included on Ingram's 2018 Corporate Report 100 and also received recognition on the Kansas City Business Journal's Fast 50 list of the area's fastest-growing companies. The Shawnee Economic Development Council also awarded Tallgrass Freight Company with its Major Employer Award.
"It's been an exciting year for all of us at Tallgrass Freight, but we're far from done," Barnes said. "We surpassed our original growth plan more than two years early and look forward to even more success as we continue to redefine the logistics industry."
