TASK – Toronto Area Security Klatch Celebrates 10 Years
Toronto, ON, Canada (PRWEB) March 23, 2015 -- The Toronto Area Security Klatch (TASK) is proud to be celebrating its tenth year as one of North America’s longest running, and most successful IT security user groups. Organized and run by a small group of professionals who recognized the community and commercial need for an unbiased forum to disseminate, discuss and debate all things related to IT security, TASK is free to attend. The formula of a ‘by professionals, for professionals’ approach to educating those interested in learning has been very successful, with current membership in TASK at 3500, and monthly attendance greater than 120.
As noted by Brian Bourne, one of the co-founders of TASK, “The need to understand the complexities of IT security and how to best defend yourself and the enterprise has only increased over the last ten years. With the proliferation of connected devices and the growth of cloud technologies, everyone is able to access almost anything, anywhere. And while we may enjoy the convenience that this offers, it’s crucial that those in charge of protecting computers, networks, and the corporate infrastructures of their employers, stay on top of the latest attacks so that they can mount a current defence.” That’s what Bourne, fellow advisors and monthly speakers aim to do every month. In fact, the need for IT security was so great, that two years after launching TASK a few of the founders went on to start SecTor, the Security Education Conference that takes place annually at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in October and has become the largest conference of its kind in Canada (http://www.SecTor.ca).
