Rubin, founder of CMRubinWorld, John Kolm, CEO of Team Results USA, talks about the impact of COVID19 on professional development. Specifically he believes the face to face experience will shift more to a virtual model. “The pandemic has spurred us to emphasize a virtual, fully online version of our program which we have, in fact, offered for years.” Kolm predicts companies will make better use of virtual technologies and training “with less resistance from bosses.” While Kolm believes physical workplaces and face-to-face training are indispensable, he predicts companies will “abandon the classroom, a 200-year-old idea, in favor of simulation-based training.” Kolm’s company is focused on organizational productivity improvement. He also believes the need for continuous professional development will be critical in the age of automation. “We will change jobs so often that sometimes we’ll have to fund our own professional development,” he tells C.M. Rubin.
