TEL Library Partners with Oklahoma Wesleyan University to Reach Private High Schools
TEL Library, a non-profit curriculum and educational technology organization located in Oklahoma City, announced today a partnership with Oklahoma Wesleyan University to provide innovative, online dual-credit courses to private high schools in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., Jan. 14, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Through the partnership, TEL will provide its catalog of innovative, online general education course materials and work with Oklahoma Wesleyan University administration and faculty to customize TEL content to align with the university's specific academic and program goals.
Oklahoma Wesleyan Provost, Dr, Mark Weeter, explains that "This partnership will enable Oklahoma Wesleyan to reach into private schools all across Oklahoma and the adjoining states. This will not only allow high school students to receive college credit from our institution at a discounted price but will be a front door for students who wish to attend OKWU."
According to TEL Executive Director, Dr. Rob Reynolds, Oklahoma Wesleyan is exemplary in its efforts to push college coursework into the high school market. "I've been incredibly impressed with OKWU's vision and leadership. They are a small liberal arts university with a clear vision, and they are finding new and innovative ways to expand their reach. They are willing to embrace new delivery modalities, business models, and markets."
Reynolds says that the partnership will help OKWU provide an online learning experience that is consistent with the university's commitment to helping students acquire the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to thrive in the 21st century. "TEL course materials are designed to promote demonstrable evidence of student learning, both in the form of traditional assessments and our rubric-based Mastery Assignments. Equally important, our Mastery Assignments are aligned to specific 21st-century skills and competencies. This means that in addition to the information they are learning, students are developing the important Essential, Thinking, and Professional skills needed for success in today's world."
Dr. Dalene Fisher, Dean of OKWU's School of Arts and Sciences, sees a real benefit in working with TEL's learning designers and technical staff to develop the university's program. "TEL's course developers are experienced professionals who have created outstanding content that will benefit OKWU students," she says. Fisher believes the combined talent and resources made possible by the partnership will result in a rich and rewarding learning experience for the program's students.
