Telemundo Owned Stations in 17 Markets Certified as the “Most Accurate” Spanish-Language Weather Forecasters

WeatheRate, an independent weather research company, today announced it has certified 17 Telemundo owned stations in the U.S. as the “Most Accurate” Spanish-language local weather forecasters in their respective markets.

WeatheRate, an independent weather research company, today announced it has certified 17 Telemundo owned stations in the U.S. as the “Most Accurate” Spanish-language local weather forecasters in their respective markets. The Telemundo stations that received the “Most Accurate” forecasting certification for 2019 include: WNJU in New York, WSCV in Miami, KTMD in Houston, KXTX in Dallas/Fort Worth, WSNS in Chicago, KVDA in San Antonio, KTAZ in Phoenix, KTLM in the Rio Grande Valley, WTMO in Orlando/Central Florida, WWSI in Philadelphia, WZDC in Washington, D.C., KUAN in San Diego, WRMD in Tampa, KDEN in Denver, KTDO in El Paso, WNEU in Boston, and KBLR in Las Vegas. This is the first time that WeatheRate is certifying the “most accurate” local Spanish-language TV weather forecasters. Earlier this year, eight out of 11 NBC owned stations in the U.S. were certified as the “Most Accurate” stations in their markets.

In the past five years, Telemundo stations across the country have revamped their weather teams to improve the way that weather conditions are presented to Spanish-language audiences. The stations have hired bilingual meteorologists and are helping weather anchors in multiple markets obtain degrees in meteorology and other industry certifications to strengthen the local weather teams. In addition, the stations’ apps feature real-time weather alerts in Spanish. The Telemundo stations’ weather alerts are powered by NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ largest privately owned network of cutting edge fixed and mobile weather radars in the country.
