SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (PRWEB) May 13, 2019
Tennessee Connections Academy (TNCA), a full-time statewide online public school, has been authorized by Robertson County Public Schools to serve students beginning in the 2019-20 school year. Tennessee Connections Academy will serve students in grades K-12 throughout the state. Enrollment is now open for the upcoming school year.
“I’m very excited to bring Tennessee Connections Academy to students throughout our state regardless of their zip code,” commented Dr. Chris Causey, Robertson County Public School District Director of Schools. “Our school district has a great history working with Pearson to provide students in Robertson County with access to online school courses. I’m proud to partner with this trusted provider and offer the Connections Academy full-time online program to students statewide. We understand that no two students are alike, and this individualized education option can help students forge their own paths to academic success.”
Approved by the Tennessee Department of Education, Tennessee Connections Academy will offer families a personalized, flexible approach to education. Learning from home, students will work closely with Tennessee-certified teachers to develop individualized learning plans that will nurture strengths and provide additional support in areas of need. Students will also benefit from real-time feedback and customized schedules, ensuring each student has the opportunity to learn in a way that’s best-suited for them.
Curriculum, from the nationally-recognized Connections Academy® program, meets rigorous state education standards and will offer students a variety of engaging courses, including honors and Advanced Placement (AP)® classes, digital technology and career technical education courses. Outside of schoolwork, students can make friends and socialize through numerous online clubs and activities and in-person field trips and school events.
Students residing in any county throughout the state are eligible to enroll in Tennessee Connections Academy. An online school approach can serve a wide range of students, including those who need a flexible schedule, learn at a different pace from their peers, need more individualized attention or live in isolated rural settings. Homebound and previously home-schooled students can also find success in the Tennessee Connections Academy program. A parent, or another adult “Learning Coach” helps to monitor student progress in the home.
As a public school, all students are required to take the same state assessments as traditional public school students. Students graduating from Tennessee Connections Academy will earn a Tennessee High School Diploma.
In preparation for its inaugural academic year, the school will establish an office within Robertson County and hire a school leader and a team of certified teachers.
Enrollment is now open for the inaugural 2019-20 school year, and families interested in learning more about Tennessee Connections Academy can attend one of several upcoming online information sessions.
