Tessa, Member of Girl Pow-R, Recently Released Cover of "True Love" from Frozen in Honour of Her Performance as Anna in the Musical

TORONTO, Feb. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tessa is a promising new talent in the innovative, upbeat all-girl band Girl Pow-R.

At 11, she is one of the youngest of the many talented performers in this rising super pop group. Tessa is passionate about the arts but her first love is musical theatre and in honour of her upcoming performance as "Anna" in Frozen she has recently released a new cover of "True Love" from the broadway musical. Tessa connects with the character of Anna as both show strength and courage, persevering through adversity, to live out their dreams.

Working since the age of eight with the theatre group Innovative Arts, her musical roles have included Paulette in Legally Blonde, Gretyl in the Sound of Music, Little Red Ridinghood in Into the Woods, Mrs. Sherman in Fame, Summer in School of Rock and most recently the lead in Matilda. Tessa also had the honour of recently performing in the Wizard of Oz at the Lower Ossington Theatre in Toronto. Past acting credits have also included both commercial and short film work.

Girl Pow-R was formed in 2017 on International Women's Day and is an all-girl pop rock band with girls ages 11 to 17 years old. Tessa is thrilled to have joined the band in early 2019. They create & sing original music, cover songs, play instruments as a band, as well as dance. Inspired by other musicians in the group, Tessa has been teaching herself piano and has now mastered most of the bands' music without any formal lessons. Each girl in the group has been focusing on their own social causes like feeding the homeless, sick children's hospitals and youth safety. Girl Pow-R's goal is to empower young girls with the slogan "I Matter" to realize their dreams and to find their own value within themselves.

Girl Pow-R has performed more than 200 shows and has won various awards and competitions. This past summer they participated in the Boys of Summer Tour singing in the cities of Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Their success only continues to grow as the original members of Girl Pow-R were recently nominated for a 2020 Juno award. Tessa is excited to support and be part of the continued success of Girl Pow-R in the years to come.
