New Axiron Lawsuit Alleges Testosterone Treatment Caused Deep Vein Thrombosis, Pulmonary Embolism, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports

All of these complaints similarly allege that the manufacturers of Axiron, AndroGel, Testim and other low testosterone therapies failed to warn doctors and patients about their potential cardiovascular risks, and concealed those dangers from the public. The lawsuits further allege that the manufacturers of the medications made misleading claims in their promotional materials that convinced many men to seek testosterone therapy, even though they had no real medical need for the treatment. Court documents indicate that the litigation involving testosterone treatments has been growing since January 31, 2014, when the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) launched a safety review of their cardiovascular risks. In September, a panel of outside advisors convened by the FDA recommended that the manufacturers of the medications be required to conduct studies of their cardiovascular side effects. The advisors also recommended that the labeling for low testosterone therapies be revised to make clear they have not been shown to lessen symptoms typically associated with the male aging process, such as low libido and fatigue.*
