SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Fisherman's Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) is excited to announce the return of Wharf Fest, San Francisco's beloved waterfront festival, as well as their first-ever open-air benefit concert which includes eight hours of musical performances from four up-and-coming local bands and performers. The festival will be the first venue in San Francisco to host musical supergroup The Side Deal, comprised of Grammy-winning artist Charlie Colin of Train, Stan Frazier of the chart-topping band Sugar Ray, and brothers Joel and Scott Owen of The PawnShop kings.
"The past six years of Wharf Fest have been incredible, but to be able to add this level of talent to our annual tradition brings a whole new outlook for the future of Wharf Fest," said Randall Scott, Executive Director, FWCBD. "We're excited to show SF-locals and tourists alike that the Wharf is still the most iconic neighborhood in the city."
A beloved SF tradition, the Chowder Competition features over 10 Fisherman's Wharf restaurants, including last year's winner Fog Harbor Fish House, in a battle for the coveted honor of Best Chowder at Fisherman's Wharf. Celebrity and media judges include Stan Frazier of chart-topping band Sugar Ray, ABC7 News Anchor and author Dion Lim; and Kathleen Ensign, local high- profile lifestyle blogger at KatwalkSF. More to be announced soon!
"Fog Harbor and Pier Market are thrilled to compete again in the Wharf Fest chowder competition and excited to defend our first-place title from last year," said Bob Partrite, Chief Operating Officer for Simco Restaurants. "Wharf Fest has become a San Francisco tradition offering locals a fun day of festival fun, tastings and entertainment in the Wharf neighborhood."
The annual festival lineup benefitting Wharf Cares, a program created to help the homeless population of the northern waterfront, will also include local food vendors, beer and wine tasting, and a free street fair with activities for all ages. The ticketed event is for ages 21 and over and will take place in the triangle parking lot in the back of Boudin Bakery with views of the San Francisco Bay, the Pier 43 promenade, and Alcatraz Island. The Festival opens at 12:00 pm and ends at 8 pm with the final performance by The Side Deal.
Last year, Wharf Fest sold out with approximately 30,000 people in attendance. Due to the changed format of this year's event, the expected ticketed attendance for the concert and festival is 2,000 people. VIP tickets are also being offered which include drink tickets, meet-and-greet with The Side Deal, early Chowder Competition access, and the only seated stage-front access to the main concert. The fully tax-deductible tickets start at $40 for pre-sale concert-only tickets and go up to $175 for VIP with various packages in between. All proceeds of the event will directly fund the Fisherman's Wharf Community Benefit District nonprofit 501(c)(3) and the Wharf Cares program.
