CENTRE HALL, Penn., March 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The American Stamp Dealers Association, Inc. is hosting it annual Midwest Postage Stamp Show, March 22–24, 2019, in Lombard, Illinois. The show will be held at the Holiday Inn Chicago Oakbrook, 17 W 350 22nd Street, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181. The doors open daily at 10 a.m. and admission is free. Friday and Saturday the show runs until 5 p.m.; Sunday until 3 p.m. There is something for everyone from the experienced to the non-collector — dealers, specialty collecting groups, and much more. Admission is Free.
What To Do at the Show
Shop 'Til You Drop — Dealers, from across the nation and around the world, will be buying and selling stamps, covers, postcards, and more. In addition, the United States Postal Service and the United Nations Postal Agency will have booths. Be sure to visit them for the newest issues.
Plan to Attend the First Day of Issue Ceremony — The United States Postal Service will issue the Star Ribbon on Friday, March 22 at 11 a.m. The stamp was designed to meet the needs of business mailers. The artwork features a digital illustration of a star made of red, white and blue ribbon. The white space in the middle of the ribbon creates a second smaller star. The tri-colored ribbon, folded into a patriotic symbol, is intended to evoke the connectedness of the American people. The stamp will be sold in coils of 10,000 and in panes of 20. Greg Breeding was the art director. Aaron Draplin designed the stamp and created the artwork.
Experience a new kind of show auction — Can't come to the show? No problem! Bay will host an EXPO Dealer Auction running the length of the show featuring ASDA eBay dealers — bidding begins March 22 at 8 a.m. PT and ends April 3 at 9 p.m. PT. Visit ebay.com/philately! At the show, check in on the auction at the ASDA Booth.
Buy Stamps from Postal Agencies — The United States Postal Service will have a stamp counter, First Day cancels, and a cancellation area. Visit the United Nations Postal Agency Booth to purchase their newest stamps and other issues.
Get the Special Daily Show Cancel and Cachets — Be sure to visit the ASDA Table to purchase show souvenirs.
Kids, Get Into Collecting — Each child ages 6–10, who is accompanied by an adult, will receive a free gift.
Got Stamps and Don't Know What To Do with Them?
Take Advantage of the Free Appraisal Service — Bring in those stamps/collections that you have inherited or been storing for years. This free service will put a value on your material and advise you on what to do. The appraisal service will be open for business from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and on Sunday, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. To participate in this service, check in at the ASDA Booth located at the show entrance.
