The Cambridge School of Weston (CSW), a progressive, coeducational, day and boarding school for grades 9-12, recently announced that Lise Charlier will join the administrative staff as Head of School on July 1, 2019 when current Head of School Jane Moulding retires from CSW after 17 years.
WESTON, Mass., Jan. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Cambridge School of Weston (CSW), a progressive, coeducational, day and boarding school for grades 9–12, recently announced that Lise Charlier will join the administrative staff as Head of School on July 1, 2019 when current Head of School Jane Moulding retires from CSW after 17 years.
Charlier's philosophy of educational leadership means striving to create an inclusive and collaborative work environment. She believes that a good leadership team sets the tone for faculty to participate in a healthy amount of questioning; involves itself in professional development; engages students; demonstrates a love of learning; and uses its partnership with students and the community to inspire.
Prior to CSW, Charlier served as Director of Studies and Strategic Initiatives at Severn School in Severna Park, MD. Previous to that, she was Upper School Assistant Principal at the Friends School of Baltimore, a private, Quaker co-educational school that serves students in grades Pre-K through 12.
A 25-year veteran of independent schools, Charlier has also taught foreign languages in Haiti, Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
"I greatly admire CSW's hallmark work in progressive education, through the individualized attention and relevant choices afforded to each student providing them with opportunities to achieve, create, serve and lead in multiple facets of school life. All of these are invaluable for instilling an education of the whole child," Charlier said. "I look forward to helping CSW develop practices for students to mitigate anxiety and excessive pressure by teaching and modeling lifelong habits that encourage wellness and instill a love of learning," she added.
Charlier currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Baltimore City's Green Street Academy, a successful and forward thinking charter school; the Board of Trustees of the Association of Independent Maryland and DC Schools (AIMS); the Board for the Cowles Charitable Trust; and most recently the Board of Trustees of the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education.
Charlier holds a master's degree in education from Johns Hopkins and a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University. She was born and raised in Haiti, and maintains a home in Port-au-Prince. She and her husband reside in Baltimore, where they raised their two children.
The Cambridge School of Weston is located at 45 Georgian Road, Weston, Mass. 02493. For additional information, call 781-642-8600, visit http://www.csw.org or email [email protected].
