The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), announced the Diamond Chapter Winner and Platinum Chapter Winners for the 2021 – 2022 school year. New Mexico State University has been named the Diamond Award Winning Chapter of the year.
WASHINGTON, June 20, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), announced the Diamond Chapter Winner and Platinum Chapter Winners for the 2021 – 2022 school year. New Mexico State University has been named the Diamond Award Winning Chapter of the year.
The achievement of Diamond Star status is highly competitive among the nearly 300 NSCS chapters throughout the country, and the quality of the applications and competitiveness for this coveted honor was tremendous. Similarly, the achievement of Platinum Star status is a great honor and was only bestowed upon ten chapters nationwide this year. These awards are based on a careful review of applications submitted by the chapters to demonstrate a high level of achievement and activity of their members within the honor society.
As the only chapter to receive the Diamond Star status elite national distinction, the chapter at New Mexico State University truly embodied the NSCS pillars of scholarship, leadership, and service. Their application stood out amongst the other chapters for several reasons including their professionalism in the application, their ability to conduct meaningful events such as the Spring Sendoff Meeting, Scholar Study Nights, as well as a wide variety of community service events benefiting their local community including an Out of the Darkness Community Walk, the annual Keep State Great event, multiple times volunteering at El Caldito Soup Kitchen and much more.

"During the time that I have been the advisor [since 2008 for the New Mexico State University chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars], I have had many successful groups of officers," said Victoria Banuelos, "but none quite as efficient and impactful as this year. I am very proud of each of the graduating officers and members as they were the reason that this chapter was so successful this semester."
NSCS also announced its platinum chapter winners. They are College of Staten Island, DePaul University, Full Sail University, Grand Canyon University, Jackson State University, Purdue University, The University of Akron, University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and Winthrop University.

All recipients of this honor are NSCS chapters that have continuously displayed strong leadership and provided community service and networking opportunities for their members. They have successfully sustained a significant level of engagement, fundraising, member recruitment and more. Over the past year, these NSCS chapters have embodied the society's pillars of scholarship, leadership and service through programming and events.
