VIRGINA BEACH, Va., Jan. 20, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF) proudly announces Peter H. Coors, Chairman of Molson Coors Brewing Company, as the 2023 NSF Denver Evening of Tribute Fire in the Gut (FITG) Award recipient. NSF will present the award to Mr. Coors at its annual event at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
This award holds an incredibly meaningful place in the history of the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Community. At the end of training for each Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) class, graduates select one candidate amongst their peers to be the Fire in the Gut Award recipient. It is not necessarily the top swimmer or best runner. Instead, the Fire in the Gut award goes to the BUD/S classmate who consistently delivers an unmatched work ethic and unfailingly puts teammates before himself.
In that same vein, the NSF Fire in the Gut Award is presented to an outstanding individual or organization that demonstrates superior dedication, leadership, and perseverance and has risen to the top of their profession or industry with a 'never give up' attitude. Through his business, philanthropy, and impact on the local community, Mr. Coors exemplifies these qualities and has been a longtime supporter of the Navy SEAL Foundation.
Past award recipients include Mike Shanahan, Peyton Manning and this year's event Chair, L. Roger Hutson. Hutson stated, "This award recognizes Pete's unwavering commitment to our nation, the Naval Special Warfare community, and their families. His work ethic, leadership, and commitment to the Denver area are without equal."
