The New York Conservatory For Dramatic Arts Launches "YOUR START IN THE ARTS" High School Drama Grant
Celebrating National Arts & Humanities month, The Conservatory's Your Start in the Arts new grant program is designed to honor and support secondary high school educators in drama and theater who have inspired and students to follow their passion for the art of storytelling through acting.
NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA) today proudly announced the launch of its "Your Start in the Arts" grant program. Celebrating National Arts & Humanities month, The Conservatory's new grant program is designed to honor and support secondary high school educators in drama and theater who have inspired and students to follow their passion for the art of storytelling through acting.
"As an acting conservatory and college, we meet incredibly talented and motivated graduating high school seniors from around the country. When they speak about their high school drama departments and teachers, we hear two main themes—life-changing support and teaching, and very limited budgets," said Richard Omar, president and artistic director at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. "The Conservatory created the 'Your Start in the Arts' grant to honor these incredible high school teachers, and further support those who are making a difference for students pursuing their passion for the dramatic arts."
Starting today, present and former high school drama students from across the US can nominate their high school drama department to be considered for a $1,000 grant. Once the nominations close on November 30, 2018, a panel of New York Conservatory actor-faculty will convene to read the submissions. The panel will vote for the five most compelling cases for support. Grant winners will be notified by email and announced on January 7, 2018.
